NixOS workshop (Barcelona, Nov 18)

@StepBroBD and I are preparing a workshop for teaching Nix/NixOS to beginners. The title is: “NixOS: Reproducible, Declarative Software Development and Deployment”. We plan to cover foundational topics: the Nix language, the store model, development shells, configuring NixOS, etc.

If you are by the city or know someone who might be interested, please share with them. While the topics will be aimed to Nix beginners, it would be nice to have some gurus in the audience to provide help or feedback :slightly_smiling_face:

See you there!

Great idea! I’m a bit too far, but just in case you didn’t know about it: @vimjoyer published this excellent website for beginners: Nixmap - Vimjoyer

This sounds like a nice workshop for beginners. I think a small hands-on example where participants create a development shell and then reproduce the same environment could make the idea of reproducibility much easier to understand. It’s one of those concepts that probably clicks faster when people see it working.
