Nice article and I very much agree with your conclusion.
NixOS was like learning unit tests for Linux.
It gives you a solid base to test things and return to a know good point.

Great look at the numbers, too! The recent influx of new users may also be due to popular YouTube videos and podcasts, and possibly because of NixCon North America colocating at SCaLE.
