Retrieving nixpkgs outline

As part of the Documentation Project efforts, I’m researching how to efficiently inspect the nixpkgs graph to generate relevant outlines.

I’ve started toying with ways of achieving this which, for now, are nor complete nor efficient. I’m posting here to ask for efforts that are adjacent to this goal for inspiration (if not outright solving it).

So far, I’m aware of the following:

• The eval-release.sh script.
• The C++ implementation of nix-env -q <package>.

It really depends on what you need, would be good to have a bit more info

There is nix-store --query --graph and exportReferencesGraph though, which might help
