xwayland-sattelite doesnt give any relevant outputs.

does someone know whats going wrong? please help.

Do you have hardware.graphics.enable32Bit set? Steam requires a multilib setup.

now getting another error:

ok, got it working now. but the main window is completely black, but not the other windows (the friend window etc.). any ideas what this is about?

Nvidia on wayland with a driver version or compositor lacking explicit sync?

Try disabling “Enable GPU accelerated rendering in web views” in Steam.

That’s just a band-aid fyi. If nvidia is indeed the problem, you should switch to a more recent driver, and get a compositor that supports explicit sync (I think gnome does out of the box, and it looks like you’re using that).

Lack of explicit sync is just going to cause issues whenever you do want accelerated rendering afterwards, so basically anytime you actually launch something with steam.

somehow works now, dont know what it was. solved magically after ~20 rebuilds.
