Hello NixOS community,
Last year we announced Thymis, our open-source platform for managing NixOS systems and IoT fleets with a web-based dashboard. Since then, we’ve been busy improving both the software and the experience. I wanted to share an update on where things stand now:
What’s new since the initial release
- Multiple new releases — with fixes and smaller features, e.g. improved logging, SSH access buttons, and various quality-of-life improvements.
- Greatly extended documentation — now much more comprehensive and usable for getting started: https://thymis.io/docs.
- Thymis Cloud — a hosted offering is now available:
For businesses globally
For private individuals in Germany
See plans at https://thymis.io/pricing.
Reminder: What is Thymis?
Thymis is a NixOS-based management solution aimed at simplifying deployment and lifecycle operations:
- A web-based dashboard for managing configurations and provisioning images
- Declarative fleet management (disk/SD-card images, device updates)
- Extendable with your own modules and logic
- Preserves NixOS advantages (atomic updates, rollbacks, reproducibility)
Who is it for?
- System administrators who want reproducible fleets of machines
- Developers using IoT/edge setups (Raspberry Pi, MiniPCs, etc.)
- NixOS users looking for a graphical dashboard in their workflow
Next steps
We’re continuing to develop the open source core and Cloud service together. Feedback from pilot deployments has been valuable, and we’d be grateful for input from this community as well — whether it’s around usability, scaling challenges, or desired features.
If you’d like to try it out:

Thanks again for all the encouragement and constructive criticism on the last post. Happy to answer questions, and always open to feedback.
