What happens when I launch SteamVR. I see the following: Image link
My Valve Index remains completely black (nothing shows in the lenses), though the headset’s blue front lights are on. The device is recognized through lsbusb as well:

Sometimes I get SteamVR room setup. Sometimes I get the “SteamVR Room Setup” window popping up, which claims it can’t detect the headset (despite the headset showing it’s detected in the STEAMVR status popup): https://i.imgur.com/fCtXAOf.png
I can’t boot NixOS with the headset plugged in. If I start NixOS with the Valve Index plugged in, I just get a black screen/can’t get NixOS to start. Note that nothing shows up in the Valve Index when I start up either (i.e. the BIOS window isn’t moving to the Valve Index as its monitor). So in all of these cases, I am attempting to get the Valve Index to work by plugging it in after NixOS has already booted up.
