There is an unofficial Uzbek Nix Community on Telegram:

Communication mainly happens in Uzbek.

  • Supergroup currently has more than 600 users and most users are just moving to NixOS or using Nix in their system.
  • There are quite a few people who are very knowledgeable about Nix/Nixpkgs/NixOS, and will answer questions in Uzbek about any of these. The amount of those people exceed approx. 10-15 people.
  • There are a handful of people using Nix professionally at companies in Uzbekistan (personally, we or I use with embedded projects).
  • Personally, I haven’t seen any nixpkgs committer, but I’m actively looking for opportunities to contribute.
  • The chat was named Xinux due to nix or nixos domain being busy and we thought it would be original smh.

@hsjobeki maybe we should put up those larger, especially non-english, communities on the website? The 2024 survey results indicate that would help people with approaching the ecosystem.

I’d be only happy if this thread somehow helps to make decisions for people to find their community they desire conveniently.

Btw, I also agree with your point! When I found out about NixOS, the first place I looked up communities was the website. Just today I found out that nix.ug exists.
