Have you considered adding the team to Nix Community | Nix & NixOS together with a little mission statement along the lines of “Make Nixpkgs the one-stop-shop for geospatial software?” A small blurb about the team, what to do, how to join, and linking to resources as you did in the Discourse announcement would surely increase visibility.
