I’d like to volunteer some time towards reducing the humanpower needed to maintain Nixpkgs. I’ve already made some small contributions to this end around the edges—adding or fixing up some update scripts, little improvements to the r-ryantm infrastructure and the Repology integration—and I’m happy to continue in that direction but if the net result of my contributions is just ‘more r-ryantm PRs’ I’m afraid I’ll be working contrary to my ultimate goal.
As a relative newcomer I don’t have the best view of how Nixpkgs’ existing automated systems all work together or who is responsible for which parts, so I wouldn’t know where to go to ‘apply’. But if you have a hand in a current piece of infrastructure and you think it should do X but you haven’t had the time to implement it, and you’re willing to let a new volunteer try to help out, I’d like to hear from you.
