Since NixOS 24.05 had been released, hyprland has already twice reported errors due to incompatible changes to the configuration file. Isn’t NixOS 24.05 supposed to be stable? Why are incompatible changes introduced to hyprland in the released version? Is there a way for users to avoid breaking changes in 24.05 and still get contingent security updates?
If I watch Linux forums in general and this forum here in particular I get the impression that Hyprland is involved in >90% of issues regarding desktop environments. It seems to break all the time. Not sure why, but if you want a stable desktop experience, just from the numbers, Hyprland maybe is not the best choice.
Hyprland itself works fine for me. The problem is that it gets upgraded to new, incompatible versions in 24.05.
