Behaviour understanding: pkg updates on older nixos versions

Hi there,

I am currently still on 24.11 due to a bug that freezes my desktop hard (both GNOME and Hyprland). Suspect a combination of AMD, kernel, firmware, etc. Still working on that.

Now, since I am still on 24.11, what is the deprecation process/behaviour look like? Do I immediately stop getting updates on my apps, and is it frozen in time? Or some other behaviour?

Just looking to understand so that I can plan a path forward. IE - Keep using until I can solve the issue, or move to another distro temporarily, etc. I need to be able to keep working.

Appreciate the insight!

Cheers.

So yes, effectively the branch will stop receiving any updates in a few days.

Thanks! Hopefully I can figure out where it is happening before I have to bounce elsewhere.

Appreciate the insight!

The amdgpu issue people have been running into is supposedly fixed as of 6.12.33: Making sure you're not a bot!

In theory you should no longer be running into this on NixOS stable with the default kernel.

There are… others, of course, and not everything is caused by amdgpu. What specifically is your problem?

You are correct. I updated to the 6.12.34 kernel, and my issues (on my computer) are resolved.
