Two weeks.
We’ve been telling you about PlanetNix 2026 for a while now. We opened the CFP, we announced Community Tables and the first speakers, and some of you even asked if it was happening before we said anything. (It’s happening.)
So here’s what’s new: 350+ people have signed up >> more than double last year << and the full agenda is now live with over 25 talks and workshops across two days, two tracks. I haven’t been this excited about a Nix event since I organized the first NixCon back in 2015 in Berlin. The community was tiny then. It’s not tiny anymore.

March 5-6 / Pasadena Convention Center / co-located with SCALE 23x

The lineup
You already know about Kelsey Hightower, Stormy Peters (AWS), Priya Ananthasankar (Microsoft), @burke (Shopify), and Graham Bennett (PDT). But now the full schedule is out and there’s a lot more.
A few things I’m looking forward to:
- Eelco Dolstra, this time with “builtins.wasm: Nix Meets WebAssembly” (with Surma)
- Burke Libbey on how Shopify builds their monorepo with Nix (“Tectonix”)
- NixBSD: A new frontier for NixOS by Artemis Tosini and Audrey Dutcher
- NixOS on RISC-V with Yuning Liang (DeepComputing) and Tristan Ross
- “Nix Anywhere Else: Relocatable Binaries via ELF Surgery” by Wes Payne
- Jacek Galowicz going deep on the NixOS Test Driver, both a talk and a 90-minute workshop
- “Flack the Planet: Turning flakes into the web framework no one asked for” (yes, really)
- Michael Stahnke asking “Nix and AI, are we there yet?”
And that’s just a sample. There’s talks on edge deployments, declarative mesh networking, Nix + K8s dev environments, container bloat, Nvidia Jetson dev kits, NixOS governance, and some more AI. Plus an unconference block on Friday afternoon.

Beyond the talks
Some of the best stuff at Planet Nix happens outside the scheduled sessions.
Community Tables are back: free demo space for Nix ecosystem projects, donated by Flox and partners. If you have something to show, apply here (tables are limited).
The party. Friday evening, 6pm, after the last sessions wrap up. I’m trying to convinve @ron to get some drink on the tap, please join me in the peer pressure. You can RSVP on Luma. Venue is being finalized but us not yet confirmed. It will be walking distance from the convention center. I’ll update this post once we have the exact location.
Now, it’s currently called “Nix and Friends party” and we think it deserves a better name. We’ve been throwing around ideas like “nix-shell party”, “The Nix Store Afterparty”, “gc --delete-sobriety”… none of them are great, which is why we need your help. Drop your best name ideas in the comments. And while you’re at it: what else does a proper Nix party need?
Can’t make it to Pasadena?
Talks will be livestreamed on the SCaLE YouTube channel. Last year’s recordings are already up there if you want a preview of what to expect.
