As you can see we got a good list of future themes, so we’ll be picking one for the next event. If you have any suggestions or votes for a theme to prioritise, feel free to comment here!
We’ve had to rearrange the March user group meeting due to unavailability of myself and others who might host it. The new date is Wednesday 19th March (two weeks later). Apologies to those who can’t make the new date!
This was the first time that I had attended since before the pandemic!
I had a good time and it was an excellent discussion.
Due to recent work, I ended up implementing Secrets Management which entailed trying out tools like sops, age, novops and agebox.
I encountered challenges around usability and documentation before arriving at a satisfactory solution.
Well, not entirely satisfactory as I felt compelled to don belt and braces by implementing a pre-commit hook using gitleaks to close the gap left by the adopted solution.
The user group is on again tomorrow (see the Eventbrite link above for sign up details). We’ll hopefully try to return to the Secrets Management topic this week. Hope to see you there!
Hi, I started using nixos about a year ago and only just came across this. Any idea when the next meetup might be? I’d love to meet up with some fellow nix users and discuss what we’re working on!
Apologies for the scheduling delay. I’m planning to run the user group the last week of July, likely Wednesday 30th. I’ll try to get it scheduled properly ASAP.
Hi, thanks for checking I was about to post an update. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to schedule it since none of us are available to host. I will try to schedule the next one ASAP. Apologies!
I’ve finally scheduled the next event for 10th September at 18:00. The topic is going to be NixCon highlights and discussion on topics arising from that.
I’m going to try to use Luma to schedule since Eventbrite hasn’t been great. Please sign up here: London Nix User Group · Luma (signing up is important so we know numbers for pizza!)
(I also created an event in Eventbrite, just in case it helps catch people who might otherwise miss it, but I plan to phase that out)
Thanks for hosting the UG yesterday @graham33. It was really great to meet you all and it was very interesting hearing about nix from a different perspective after only using it from a personal standpoint. Looking forward to the next meet up already!

Thanks for coming! We had a good turnout so thanks all.
Next time as suggested we’ll do some kind of ‘Nix clinic’ where people can bring issues they need to solve (and their laptops). I’ll try also to arrange some kind of topic in case that doesn’t occupy the full time. I’ll schedule that soon (roughly two months from now).
The next user group will be 12th November, please sign up here: London Nix User Group · Luma (please don’t use Eventbrite any more, I’ll create an event there one last time in case it catches any stragglers).
Also, we found a cycle/skate helmet at the office around the time of the last user group. If you’ve lost one please let me know.
